O lançamento internacional do álbum de estréia, Last Time On Earth (Urban Jungle, 2005), colocou a dupla no circuito norte-americano e europeu de shows.
Nome do disco.
Ainda não apareceu.
Em que etapa de produção está?
Estamos ainda no inicio.

Electropatia

As cidades foram Seattle (dois shows), Chicago (três shows), Denver, Los Angeles, New York (três Shows), Philadelphia, Washington D.C. nos EUA. E Toronto e Montreal no Canadá.
Télépatique e Tricky - Crítica do show no New York Times

"The opening band, Télépathique, is Brazilian, from Sao Paulo, and played slyly metamorphosing dance music: electro to dance-rock to techno to funk, as Érico Theobaldo moved among turntables, laptops and a drum kit. The band’s blithe grooves and tales of desire link it to the knowing internationalist hedonism of CSS, from Brazil, and the Brazilian Girls, from New York City, with plenty of its own smart twists.
Mylene, the band’s singer, arrived onstage in a red dress that showed off her tattoos, started moving to the synth-pop beat and sang, 'I’m not the man you think I am/I’m not that kind of guy.'"

September 4th, 2008 - The Filmore at Irving Plaza - New York, NY - Tricky w/ Télépathique
Images and Review by Dominick Mastrangelo
Brazilian dance/electronica upstarts, Télépathique, brought their laptops and irresistibly catchy dance tunes to the Filmore last Thursday. While headliner, and trip-hop maestro, Tricky, spent the majority of his set silhouetted or with his back to the stage, Télépathique brought the near-capacity crowd much closer than arm's length. Vocalist, Mylene, hopped into the crowd at one point to sing and constantly leaned out over the audience as her band performed songs from their debut full-length, Last Time On Earth (a record that's been out for two years in their country but just saw its American release last month.) To be sure, most of the crowd was there to see Tricky who is touring on his new record Knowle West Boy, but on the night it was Télépathique who were good value and all the more entertaining.

Critíca Télépathique: Last Time on Earth na revista americana XLR8R

"The trio of producer Erico “DJ Periferico” Theobaldo, vocalist Mylene, and an Apple laptop, Télépathique has been active in their hometown of São Paulo, Brazil for several years. Only now is the group seeing the North American release of its 2006 debut, with its 11 tracks of guitar- and synth-striated robo-funk. The human duo excels in sounding like patch chords and live PAs–the pleasurably forward tones come across as quarter-inch stereo, not 96 kHz digital. There’s an echo of manually triggered immediacy that ties this release more to the progressive breakbeat of the ’90s than any contemporary scene. Following the man-machine timeline from Kraftwerk to favela soundsystems, Télépathique hybridizes to clap, clap those thighs-ez."

Déjà Vu

On the coattails of their debut release, Last Time On Earth, this Brazilian electronic team of Telepathique, Mylene Pires on vocals and DJ Periferico (Erico Theobaldo) on drums and the 1&2’s, along with a third, Mauricio, on guitar and the 1&2’s, brought their high energy dance, punk, rock, samba, electro party for their live US debut to Nectar Lounge on Wednesday, July 30th. That it was a Wednesday and they didn’t get on stage until around 11:15 didn’t stop a decent sized crowd from showing up and having a great time until they finished. Pires is the epitome of the Sao Paulo urbanite, dressed fashionably glam in black hot pants, a feminine funky blouse with fishnets, sparkle socks, and heels. The Brazilian beauty delivered a sensual performance that kept the fans captivated until the end of the show, at one time even stepping off stage to dance with the crowd. What makes this team fun live, aside from some great tracks, was the addition of drums and electric guitar to compliment and enliven the electronic back beats, which ranged from heavy drum and bass to a fast samba sampled from the City of God soundtrack. They performed tracks from their release, including the catchy “Eu Gosto”, as well as the very fun track “I’m Not the Man You Think I Am” (for which Pires wore a hat while performing) and a nice cover of “Sweet Dreams”. There were a few sound glitches during the show, but nothing that stopped the great energy with which this band manages to infect its audience.
You can catch the trio on tour in the States and Canada through August 16th.

"Last Time on Earth"
Release date: August 5

AUGUSTA, GA - Yeah, Chicago…Richard M. “The System is Down” Daley may have declared August 10 to be House Unity Day, and we must indeed bestow ample props upon you for playing host to the birth of house music. In spite of this, oh Windiest (and Funkiest) of Cities, it’s no secret that nowadays the best techno-dance tunes consist of imports, typically and largely from the U.K. and most of Western Europe. Y’know, kinda like the best beer.
In recent years, however, the Brazilian sound, one that combines the dub beats and bass thumps of traditional techno with bits of baile funk and bossa nova, has been creeping its way up the coast, through Latin America, and inexorably up into Miami and other house hotbeds of the United States (see our Bonde do Role review). Telepathique, a duo consisting of DJ/drummer/knob-twiddler Erico Theobaldo and vocalist Mylene Pires, completely and successfully embody the style, offering up a unique and nearly seamless amalgamation of digital punk, new wave, and beats provided by haywire robots on their forthcoming full-length, Last Time on Earth.
The strength of Theobaldo and Pires lie not in strict adherence to stylistic patterns, but in their ability to tweak the genre while still maintaining true to its roots. From the get-go, it’s pretty evident that LNOE is not your typical house album; shades of "Psycho Candy"-era Jesus and Mary Chain (of all things) are present throughout opener “Déjà vu,” and though “You Don’t Know” is largely straight-up, off-kilter dub-funk minimalism, the acidic skies open up on more than one occasion for a trance-inducing guitar solo. There are hints of digitized punk in “UR a Joke,” and the ambient tropicalia of “Vida Inertia” takes subtle cues from Savath and Savalas.
To be sure, this is rave-ready music, but its quirky influences and numerous idiosyncrasies will also consume more than a few audiophiles’ weekends. Though it falls a couple of steps short of a cyber-funk masterpiece —“Wild” and “Telefunk” come off as cutting room fodder — Last Time on Earth should secure Telepathique a spot in the record piles of flashlight-visor-bedecked DJs across the world.

Music writers often adhere to the rule of three: When it comes to describing a musical style, referencing two bands isn’t enough (and four is just showing off). Thankfully, anybody covering modern electro-funk-carioca now has São Paolo’s Télépathique to cite in addition to better-known Brazilian dance acts Bonde Do Role and Cansei de Ser Sexy. American audiences are likely more familiar with the latter groups for their songs’ placement in television commercials—Bonde Do Role’s “Solta O Frango” for Nokia and Cansei de Ser Sexy’s “Music Is My Hot Hot Sex” for Apple—than for any exposure on the dance floor. Télépathique, comprised of DJ-drummer Erico Theobaldo and singer Mylene Pires, shares some musical elements with those two acts—its debut full-length, Last Time on Earth (released in South America in 2006), features live drumming paired with programmed beats, punk attitude, carnal themes, and female vocals that switch between English and Portuguese. But the duo differs from its contemporaries by being less goofy, creating a more straightforward, four-on-the-floor dance sound influenced by house and breakbeat. The leadoff track, “Déjà-vu,” begins with Pires coolly intoning, “I’m not what you think I am/Never gonna be,” while Theobaldo works overtime playing drums and guitar and tweaking the overall sound. (He processes Pires’ vocals through a nifty staccato effect—one he apparently likes so much he recycles it on “Sex, Drugs and Funk and Roll.”) Pires may be the face of Télépathique, but Theobaldo is undeniably the architect of the band’s sound, which is why a track like “Wild” succeeds with minimal vocal contributions. Pushing eight minutes long, the song takes its time working up to a steady old-school house beat before Pires finally comes along to offer a few brief breathy lines. Theobaldo embellishes the tune with high-end whines and low-synth rumbles before the tune unexpectedly devolves into what sounds like a Galaga arcade game overheating. A more traditional bossa nova side, though, emerges on “Vida Inteira”: Over a lively but relaxed beat, Pires gets a chance to show off her pipes for a bit, sounding like a cross between Stereolab’s Laetitia Sadier and Sade. Last Time on Earth has a couple of 12-inches’ worth of stellar sexed-up tracks, though there are a few clunkers, like the repetitive “Telefunk” and the unfocused “Kabalah.” But even if Télépathique doesn’t enjoy the breakout success of its contemporaries, the album is unlikely to leave any listener, as Pires sings on “I’m Not the Man You Think I Am,” “burning with indifference.”
